When an institution is run for the benefit of one man, his family and the cronies who enable him to exploit the system for all that it's worth, it is the institution which becomes the problem, even more than the man.
FIFA has quietly been paying millions in taxes for Gianni Infantino.

Infantino came into power promising maximum transparency and FIFA committed to publishing details about his salary and benefits. So why isn’t FIFA telling anyone about the $4m income tax payments?

FIFA Quietly Paid Millions in Gianni Infantino’s Taxes (Gift Article)

....not so fun fact: romantic love is a social construct (borne of a religious one!) intended to legitimize the institution of marriage and by extension the institution of uhhh...mmmhmmm.... the institution.
I think we allow romantic love to carry too much value in the overall human experience.

Shit, I’ve been guilty of it too.

However …. I just no longer believe that the greatest dream for your life … is rooted in keeping the same romantic love for as long as possible.

Any time I look at academic starting salaries, I think about how fucking absurd academia as an institution is.

history cannot march on so long as "the republican party" exists. i do not think the democrats as an institution will be able to accomplish the historic task of the abolition and liquidation of "the republican party". but perhaps the international proletariat will

every institution on earth cannot survive the relentless stare and critique of the internet and every person who has a frustration or trauma or problem with the institution. every institution is broken in some ways. but that doesn't mean we have nowhere to work or participate, and we are needed.

The Met would be a laughing stock if it wasn’t such a racist, bigoted, sexist institution
BREAKING: BLANKET ARRESTS BEGIN OUTSIDE US EMBASSY

The Met Police began making arrests before any signs were on display, arresting volunteers like this woman for supporting people holding signs, and arresting people for having blank placards.

BTW if you think there aren’t enough faculty at your institution to do the intense work of governance while also doing research, teaching, and service then that’s a sign that your institution needs to fucking hire more faculty.

2025 was defined by a broad structural collapse of American society’s willingness to uphold its own laws, rules, and norms - each institution that folded left more weight on the ones still remaining, and they all went down one by one.

Just from a basic political calculation standpoint, I have no idea how you get the sense that in the current climate, you can backstab your party and endorse a GOP candidate and think that the entire Democratic Party as an institution wouldn't immediately damnatio memoriae you

This is what makes institutional capture so damaging, it’s not just that the wrong people end up running an institution, it’s that capture destroys the shared rules you’d need to undo it.
