I think this thread is right but I would note the commercial/institutional interest is not in protecting *Trump* but avoiding confrontation with reality. Sometimes these are the same thing, sometimes they aren't.
recognition of how unstable the US is and how utterly wretched its president is gets priced in. So a lot of people and institutions are now invested in protecting Trump at all costs

The right wing media sphere being so much larger and more influential than the left is because they have every institutional and infrastructural advantage. The right has the money to fund them, the hosting platforms have an interest in boosting them.

The idea of governing without financial conflicts of interest, separating institutional authority from family and personal connections, norms that people thought were enforceable and fundamental until Trump spent his first term showing that they could just be ignored.

I think this is correct, and I've been thinking a lot about what replaces all this stuff. If it is going away, you'd think the institutional players would have some idea of what might take its place. But they don't seem to have a vision for that, or any interest in it. It's private equity mindset.
Fun part about David Ellison destroying CBS News, 60 Minutes and his late-night show is that he'll never be able to get any of it back. You could argue that latter was heading toward obsolescence anyway, but the Weiss-ification of the news has led to a permanent erosion of trust.

This is a sign of weak institutional interest in the SpaceX IPO due to the shady acquisition of xAI at a $250 billion valuation in February.

I don't know how many different ways I can say "CENTCOM happily going to war with their eternal mortal nemesis and SOCOM SOCOMing does not mean DoD has any institutional interest in at all being involved in pointing guns at americans trying to vote"

We don't build enough housing. Institutional investors, interest rates, millenial earning power Everything else is a red herring.

The media is capitalist. Republicans, more than anything else, serve the interests of capital. Therefore, the media has little institutional interest in actually undermining the republicans.

We're a decade into this and still getting fed "raises new questions" about very obvious and blatant corruption, self-dealing, and authoritarian capture.

This isn't journalism. It's an institutional denial superstructure.

Funny how the Democratic Party suddenly becomes capable of quick, efficient, daring action when its institutional self-interest is at stake.
Trump sparked a mid-decade redistricting frenzy after urging Republicans to re-gerrymander congressional maps nationwide—but they didn't expect Dems to respond.

The GOP targeted 9 Dems in 4 states—in response, Dems targeted 9 Reps in 2 states.

A court also replaced Utah's GOP map with a fairer map

Individual members have self- interest. But their individual interest is contrary to the interest of Congress as an institution. The less they do, the fewer stands they take, the more institutional power they abrogate and surrender to other branches, the more they can dodge accountability.

Writing about university governance bits and bobs this week - fun! - and have plenty to get on with but am reminded of how deeply cooked this sector is and have an ongoing interest in covering it properly. Especially re: institutional governance. Tips etc: rickjamesmorton@protonmail.com

Michaël van de Poppe predicts that certain utility-focused coins could attract institutional interest, saying, “I think that we’ll also see real utility coins take the spotlight as institutional interest continues to grow.”

The bigger issue to me is the institutional Dem/DSCC having any interest at all in a candidate who would say this.

Cut her off from any institutional support. This is insanity.

This happens because transphobia is an institutional imperative and never considered a conflict of interest, or an impediment to providing trans people with care.

The status quo of transition care is trans people subjecting ourselves to the whims of bigots who want to humiliate and exploit us.
Disgustingly, the published 'research" in question was used to inflame discourse about a "rapid increase" in trans youth, harming the patients whose data it used!

fwiw, I think there's probably a good deal less interest in institutional judaism right now in thinking about this sort of cultural Christian antisemitism. institutional judaism right now is focused on conflating opposition to Israli policies with antisemitism.

We are absolutely losing an incredible amount of institutional knowledge and leadership. The current acting administrator of NASA is executing huge reductions with no plan or interest in maintaining space sciences in the United States

The people with the greatest interests in the system are increasingly becoming the people trusted to police, shape and protect it.

A revolving door? A institutional conflict of interest?

I call it state capture. I call it villainy.
