#itaconate
- Concordance with itaconate shunt hypothesis: more energy for immune system, less energy for us
- Micronutrient deficiencies, e.g. itaconate-induced B12 inactivation
- Endocrine abnormalities
- Why vagus nerve stimulation can cause worsening: sickness behaviour = parasympathetic

This made me really hopeful. Someone in the comments said it should also be compatible with the itaconate shunt hypothesis (which has always made sense to me). I know the current research environment is challenging, but I hope this one gets through.

Oh, wow, seeing CLYBL show up here is very exciting! It's an enzyme that's also key to the Itaconate Shunt as hypothesized by a.o. dr. Rob Phair. m.youtube.com/watch?v=RiVD... Plus I have reason to believe the Itaconate Shunt can disregulate cortisol as suggested here: patientledhypothesis.github.io

Rob Phair up now: the Itaconate Shunt.
September 11, 2026 at 5:00 PM
Rob has included an image of the itaconate shunt. The diagram generates a sort of gate that can block off parts of the tricarboxylic acid (TCA/Krebs) cycle.

They induced a block in itaconate and demonstrated it did impair TCA cycle in zebrafish.

The talk is primarily focused on the theoretical aspects of how the shunt might work.
