Ranked-choice voting actually makes the double-Sullivan ploy ineffective. If anyone is confused, they vote for both. And unless Peltola gets over 50%, they get combined. So why run this deceptive article? Guess.
NYT is going all out in its effort to promote fascism, having yet another piece on the Dems' Dan Sullivan ballot effort in Alaska. This time with a literally 100% nonsense piece on ranked-choice voting www.nytimes.com/2026/11/01/u...

We had a blast talking with and learning from so many passionate educators at NCTM last week.

Where should we head next?

A dodecagon inscribed in a unit circle has area 3. This can be shown using Kürschák's Tile.

What can we learn from this? #iTeachMath

This is but one of the questions I have
Compare 2026 with 1841:

"All students must have frequent opportunities to be actively engaged in reasoning and sense-making. Such opportunities support seeing math not as a set of rules to be memorized but as conceptually coherent"

math turning out to be useful has been a mild disaster for its image, as it's led to people thinking it's *supposed* to be useful, when in fact math does not owe you one iota of usefulness

Great scaling strategy Elps! And a lovely way to find a decimal equivalent for 5/8.

I've always found textbook exercises to be insufficient in improving understanding, so I've started whipping up some more "thoughtful" questions for Algebra II Honors. I'm particularly proud of this collection. Feel free to steal & use as you like! #iTeachMath www.overleaf.com/project/6ae3...

Some may find #ranked-choiceVoting complicated but my 1st and 2nd graders at Stanford #mathCircle seem to understand it. They have created scenarios where the winner is nobody's 1st choice, somebody's last choice, determined by a "spoiler", and more. #mathisfun #mtbos #iteachmath #mathAndVoting

Build 1st quadrant unit circle from special right triangles (or just do triangles if not teaching unit circle in this class)
All the exact values are from 30-60-90 & isos Rt triangles, and tan = sin/cos. SOH-CAH-TOA ok to remember (use acronym, not inappropriate context)

Untimed practice helps students understand the method. Timed practice builds fluency under pressure. Focus on accuracy first, then add speed gradually. Both have a place in effective math practice.
