It pains me to say this but in a vacuum Jaynestown is an all-timer sci fi plot, it's so pure I assume it's ripped off from ST:TOS

I mean if I HAVE to set every evil revelation that's ever troubled me aside and watch an episode of Firefly on short notice I'm watching "Jaynestown"

Everyone in the house bar me is in bed, waiting on the eldest to ring when she gets home from work.
Time for some Firefly, it's just such a lovely series - and maybe I savour it because it's not a long series.
Next up, my favourite episode, Jaynestown.

Wait ok the fact that Firefly is being discussed means this is a great time to point out that Platner’s candidacy is like the episode Jaynestown

If we're rebooting to pre-Serenity, anyway, just retcon it so Jayne stayed in Jaynestown. The crew can find a new goofball gun guy or... not.

I know Firefly and its creator are a bit problematic (confederate clothes, really?) but it's still such an amazing show. "Jaynestown" particularly is so neat because it shows so clearly folk heroes are not worshipped for themselves (as Mal explains to Jayne) but for the town folk who need some hope

like i'm guilty of this too i have a ton of shitty ideas for a serenity tv series where zoe is the captain, wash is a robot, malcolm is an upstart member of parliament, and jayne went home to be mayor of jaynestown
like i get it we didn't get a resolution, except we DID and it was a good movie!

Jaynestown from Firefly comes to mind (as another Bad example of this kind of dynamic, to be clear)

the episode "Jaynestown" from Firefly basically is 100% about Graham Platner isn't it
(yes I know both Joss Whedon and Adam Baldwin are bad. the latter has personally attacked me. not pertinent to the analysis of the episode's story though, so let's stick to that)

Remember the episode of Firefly called Jaynestown where the most despicable character on the ship was worshipped and considered a hero. Wow. So unbelievable, right?!
