Timely! Our next Greek Play will be Medea. The KCL Greek Play has been an annual tradition since 1953 and it is the only production in the country to be performed every year in the original Greek. 🏺

Medea | Greenwood Theatre | March 9-11th | tickets coming soon 🎟️
On Instant Classics this week, we explore Medea, first of all through Euripides' extraordinary play. How do we understand mothers who kill their children? It's still a question for us www.youtube.com/watch?v=kEZv...

Yes v. true @drjoehoover.bsky.social, esp. when your host leaves early in fear of possible delays. Have seen that in multiple countries! Also remember once trying to leave London (earlyish) after talk at KCL, only to have train cancelled due 2 a fire elsewhere. Came close to sleeping at Paddington!

Not sure where you’re based or what your salary requirements are. There are a couple of (clinical) placements roles going in the Nursing Faculty at KCL. Knowledge of the NHS and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders within it not in the JD but likely to be super helpful.

A drug built for spinal cord injuries repaired DNA damage and cut brain inflammation in mice with Alzheimer's-like disease. KCL-286, from King's College London, targets double-strand breaks in DNA and inflammation - problems that show up early in Alzheimer's.

Scientists discover new Alzheimer's drug that repairs DNA damage and reduces brain inflammation
The drug, known as KCL-286, produced encouraging results in a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease. Unlike treatments that focus primarily on the buildup of toxic proteins in the brain, this approach targets additional processes that can begin long before the disease reaches its advanced stages. One particularly promising advantage is that KCL-286 has already completed Phase 1 human safety and tolerability trials as part of its earlier development. This could significantly shorten the path toward further clinical testing, although its effectiveness against Alzheimer's in humans has not yet been established. "KCL-286 is a first-in-class, orally bioavailable small molecule that has already successfully cleared Phase 1 human safety and tolerability trials. This will dramatically cut down the traditional multi-year timeline required for new drug development," commented Professor Jonathan Corcoran, Professor of Neuroscience at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King's College London. The drug is a small molecule that can be taken by mouth, making it potentially more convenient to administer than treatments that require injections or infusions. Why Alzheimer's Disease Is So Difficult to Treat Alzheimer's disease involves a complicated series of changes in the brain, making it particularly challenging to develop effective treatments. Two of its best-known...
