Still best known for his superb alternative history novel ‘Pavane‘ - although I was delighted to discover that there’s a whole body of work that‘s equally captivating.

Very pleased with today's science fiction acquisitions in Cumbria today: Keith Roberts, Edmund Cooper, Bob Shaw, and Kingsley Amis' classic critical work New Maps of Hell.

Fantastic book, read three or four times, also enjoyed a couple of other of his books, Kiteworld and one about giant wasps or bees, The Swarm?

キース・ロバーツを訳し始めて、思った以上にジョン・ウィンダムの影響が強いと思ってたんだけど、ブラッドベリもだいぶ意識していたのかも、と思い始めている。少年が否応なしに大人になる「信号手」やKiteworldのいくつかの短編、『モリー・ゼロ』の移動遊園地とか。

年末年始。昨日からKiteworldの第3章Kitemistressの直し中。第2章の直接の続きで終盤はジョージ秋山『青の洞門』みたいな話に。
版権はせめて半分以上仕上げて先が見えてからかな。今にして、Molly Zeroを初心者があの勢いで訳せたのが信じられない（笑）。まあ、読みたい気持ちの強さの違いか？
