This guy’s not laughing because he has also “created” AI songs (for women he stalks on the Flock camera database).

🧵Spotted While Roaming in Aotearoa New Zealand:

A woman (70s?) is laughing as her husband tries to read a menu.
She says: "Forgot your glasses didn't you?"
"Yep."
"Want help?"
"Nope."
"Good. Because I wasn't gonna offer."
He gives her a fierce faux scowl, then stalks off to inspect the cakes. (1)

With a name like Psychedelhi-san, and that coloring, I'd guess he's a turban-wearing big laughing mushroom (Gymnopilus junonius).

If he'd put the stalks in a glass of water for a few hours, those things would've firmed right up and who's laughing now, kiddos?

Finished What Stalks the Deep by @tkingfisher.com tonight and it is easily my favorite of the Sworn Soldier series. Found myself laughing out loud as well as making horrified faces throughout. #books #booksky

I awoke to the sound of a hummingbird. Then, laughing children. An admonishing father: "Away from there. See the flowers on the ends of those stalks? Poison." He shushed the kids away. "Invasive, to boot." For a time, all was quiet. And then, the whipple and whine of a lawnmower.

The strange compulsion to reach out and touch one of the plants overtakes you. As your fingers touch the petals, they tingle. You freeze, watching tendrils reach out cautiously from the plant.

"The roots dig deeper into my veins, foxgloves sprouting from my skin."

Finish it.

Daffodil

Daffodils laughing
As the world decays to dust
And grows among ashes

Stalks of green contrast
The yellow sunburst petals
Behind them, scorched earth

Daffodils laughing
Surviving where man did not

In Arvoryn and Freiwelden children are terrified of the Rag Man; a being dressed head to toe in loose rags and a ragged cloak who stalks neighbourhoods at night.

Further, children dare each other to call on the Rag Man while holding a broken shard of mirror glass, laughing in excitement and fear.
Question for the GMs, writers, and worldbuilders out there;

Do you have something like a Boogeyman in your setting?

An urban legend, used to scare children? A real monster that preys upon people come the comforting shroud of sleep?

Or perhaps even a real person, co opted into a warning?

Finished @tkingfisher.com's What Stalks the Deep just in time to start reading @marthawells.com's Queen Demon. Feels like a wealth of reading riches.

A friend and I were laughing this weekend as I talked up Kingfisher's new book, and we both meant different ones released in the past few months.

i cut contact with my birther last year after years of trying to make her understand how she hurt me—from only accepting my autism to deny my agency to laughing to my face when i came out as not cis.

Bunnicula and The Celery Stalks at Midnight are still on one of my bookshelves. The Celery Stalks at Midnight had me laughing so hard every time. So good.

I have such a hard time choosing a favorite because I learned to read before kindergarten and I read a ton.
