Thank you Michele Stueven at #LAWeekly for this terrific article about #clarestaples, #bluezeus and the mission of saving #wildhorses at #skydogsanctuary!
“There was a picture of Blue Zeus and a video of him and his family being chased by a helicopter into a trap. I thought there must be a way to find him and bring him and his mares and offspring to the sanctuary.” www.laweekly.com/the-relentle...

From 25 years ago, just about, here's my post-9/11 interview with Spiritualized's Jason Pierce for LAWeekly ahead of his band's appearance at the Wiltern, amidst some (misplaced) critical backlash against the 'Let It Come Down' album.

Forgot about this Sunn O))) profile I did in 2003, talking w/both Greg Anderson and @stephenomalley74.bsky.social

Greg: “For the audience, it’s like a three-part experience. You see the band, you hear the band, and you _feel_ the band, too.”

Since we left L.A., Mandarette, Cole's, The Pantry, so many of my favorite places gone. Now #Taix.

We had a standing drinks night in the bar on Wednesdays, mostly ex-LAWeekly writers. Miss you guys (and my extra dry martini, rocks, olives).

Wayne Kramer was the central part of one of the best rock n roll shows I ever witnessed.
"Kramer is a dazzling goofball joy, soloing without looking at his guitar, mugging and preening like his name is Chuck Berry; he even camel walks at one point."

Although I was very good friends with lifelong Pere Ubu associate John Thompson (RIP) for several years in L.A., I only saw David Thomas (RIP) perform a single time, in 2000, with a reformed Pere Ubu. Utterly astonishing. Here's the too-brief review I wrote in the LAWeekly:
