My name change was approved, way faster than expected. Still have to do all the legwork with showing everyone the order and forcing the change on documents, but hey, I’m finally Legally Stella now

I've seen this misreported in so many places, and I'm grateful to reporters like Anna for doing the legwork to get the details right!
I reviewed the court transcript.

It’s true that only 14 grand jurors voted in favor of the Comey indictment, but the total number of grand jurors who voted is not specified.

The minimum number required for a quorum is 16; the maximum is 23.
New on MSNBC: According to the court transcript, only 14 of the 23 grand jurors voted in favor of indicting James Comey on the two counts that went forward.

This is the stuff I'm a doomer about. Real journalism takes time - even a quick, original 700-word story requires a lot of legwork, relationships, etc.

It can never compete with instant slop, or accounts that just plagiarize news for free with more sensationalistic (and wrong) framing.
"Journalism...is built on the economics of attention"

Facts are boring. Conspiracy theories are exhilarating. Besides, fact checks are happening in spaces where the lie consumers aren't. No Fox News, OAN, Newsmax, NY Post, WSJ oped consumer is reading Politifact or Kessler. JFK is alive, after all.
I wrote about facts v. belief and belonging as the real crisis here:

Local law prof proudly proclaims: 1) his ideology dictates his legal analysis; and 2) he published his NYT op-ed before doing the scholarly legwork supporting it because it would have taken too much time to do the other way. Wow.
In which Professor Wurman candidly admits why he sees the history of the common law differently than anyone who has honestly studied it, and why rather than doing scholarship he just wrote and op-ed and a (terrible, demonstrably wrong) article about the common law that should have been rejected.

It was super obvious that things being too expensive is the reason Americans feel bad about the economy, but I'm glad someone finally put in the legwork to chart it.
