Working on implementing libVLC in Godot with a GDExtension so I will be able to load more video extension (other than .ogg theora) :)

I already had this result, for now I mainly tried to load the library inside Godot to load a placeholder video, and it's a success!

elisa uses libvlc for audio playback (unless it's not detected at build time, in which case it will use qtmultimedia), so i'd believe the issue is most likely with how vlc handles audio decoding/playback/resampling

out of curiosity, are the results different between vorbis and opus?

After years of wondering if it was possible, I finally figured out how to set custom deinterlacing settings in the VLC app on Android.

Settings -> Advanced -> Custom libVLC Options

--deinterlace={1 for On, 0 for Off, -1 for Auto}
--deinterlace-mode={yadif2x for 60p/50p, ivtc for 24p detelecine}

LibVLC is powerful. You can add full VLC power to your playback program by embedding the modular LibVLC functionality.
Even the most obscure formats can be played by LibVLC

*BSD and Linux are a few OpenSource platforms you can do that, it even works in […]

Ok did they really need QuickTime?
I wrote software for media playback using LibVLC...
It works on Windows, Linux and OS X...
It can do mp3 and mp4....
So was all of that really needed?

Not yet. Feature-wise, I think it's in a pretty good state (native video codecs + libvlc backend, video/audio/text track editor & layering, timeline scrolling & zooming, keyframes & curves). But the UI is still very clunky and needs a lot more care and attention.

Few, after a lots of test, try and fail, I dropped the idea to use libVLC... to use FFmpeg instead :)

Yes, I will not stop trying until I can start an MP4 or other video format in Godot haha.

Already got some (very) small results with FFmpeg and a test mp4 video 👀

New package!
FunGoo 0.1.0 is out, a very minimal library that adds some ease-of-use helpers to consume G# 's Goo GUI

I ported an old project music player of mine using LibVLCSharp and Goo itself I guess I will be adding some other cool stuff in there

Ok the license is a valid point...
I mean LibVLC is licensed under the LGPL2.1 license!
So yes that is a valid point!

Really impressed by Noctis' UI and UX.

An open source music player built with .NET and Avalonia UI, available on Windows, macOS, and Linux, with LibVLC powering media playback.

mpv (due to its dependence on ffmpeg) is only useful for basic streaming. It fails on any FAST streams which use discontinuity, and is really slow for dash and hls startup.
Libvlc (especially the most recent ver 4) fares much better as it has its own demuxers. Gstreamer is fine too.

Oh I meant QuickTime by QT, not qt. Character limit here.

I suppose you could do a DRM lib on top of libVLC, but it might run into GPL violations or similar issues, and RIAA, etc might not like it.

What I do know is Apple decided to use what they developed in-house.

The newest version of Jellyfin for Android TV dropped the option to use libvlc instead of ExoPlayer (for understandable reasons), but now it tries to transcode pretty much anything with subtitles, even if in H.264.
I guess it's back to Kodi + Jellyfin plugin until this improves then... :ChicoTristo:

The #ChilloutVR Video Player is the BEST "finished" video player, Zero flaws! No issues in Linux, Avpro & libVLC work perfectly, No random video skipping forward cuzz the previous one was shorter in length, No VRCDN bugs, no "error in media: no error". They even have a Video Queue system!
