I read the PDF version, missing all the diagrams explaining.

then saw it at the LoadZX museum, now I just need to get the "dead tree edition"

(now I get how the pixel+color data is generated in one go)

I agree, but the Toastrack is the QL keyboard and still from Sinclair days

(I have no nostalgia for Amstrad products)
