Everyone loves a Long-tailed Tit and I like this composition among the soft leaves and berries of hawthorn in autumn. Its long tail is hidden behind its body so it just looks like a round ball.

Probably the second Lesser Yellowlegs for the Peterborough area. Relocated today by the original finder, Hugh Wright. Great bird, occasionally hanging out with a Common Greenshank.

After I left a Grey Phalarope dropped in. Good day for Etton GP.

Took many photos of birds today but none fitted either bird of the day theme so went for this Spotted Flycatcher from two weeks ago perched in a woodland clearing, hunting for insects. Once a rarity, now an established breeding species in parts of the UK but still notable to find a dozen Western Cattle Egrets in a field being rolled this morning on my patch.

The juvenile Lesser Yellowlegs continues at Etton GP, Cambs. A busy morning here with plenty of Redwing and Fieldfare about, a Great White Egret still, Golden Plover over and a Rock Pipit briefly.

If you'd told me a few years ago that Little Egrets would be outnumbered by Glossy Ibis and both Cattle & Great Egrets at this site in S Lincs I probably wouldn't have believed you. These 3 (of 4) were actually on the Cambridgeshire side of the river. #birding #localbirding #wildlife
