Alan @alan678.bsky.social has set today's #BirdOfTheDay themes: #ABCD and #RSTU. This is crying out for the double so here's a #twofer with a very recent Eurasian Blue Tit from #Lincolnshire.

Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #LockedOn, any bird with an intense gaze. I'm choosing Mrs and Mr Common Reed Bunting again. Very intense couple.

@atlanticbirding.bsky.social set today’s #BirdOfTheDay themes.

I'm going for the Alt., #Borbs; any bird that looks round, chubby, spherical etc.

I took this Long-tailed Tit a couple of days ago near my home.

Everyone loves a Long-tailed Tit and I like this composition among the soft leaves and berries of hawthorn in autumn. Its long tail is hidden behind its body so it just looks like a round ball.

Probably the second Lesser Yellowlegs for the Peterborough area. Relocated today by the original finder, Hugh Wright. Great bird, occasionally hanging out with a Common Greenshank.

After I left a Grey Phalarope dropped in. Good day for Etton GP.

First returning Common Sandpiper at the Dorset patch on 21/06/25 & today the first 2 broods of Tufted Duck with 8 & 11 ducklings. Drake Shoveler still present. Still no Mandarin broods seen, which is unusual here. @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social #LocalBirding #PWC2025
Common Sandpiper on siltbed shoreline. Female Tufted Duck with her brood of 8 newly hatched ducklings. Another female had a brood of 11 on the same lake.

Recent birding blog-post - My target for the year was 145 species of bird from within Dundee city boundaries. Somehow I passed that number, what would be my 150th? #Birds #Birding #Dundee #Scotland #UKWildlife #LocalBirding #Dundee145

Took many photos of birds today but none fitted either bird of the day theme so went for this Spotted Flycatcher from two weeks ago perched in a woodland clearing, hunting for insects. I believe they have bred here this year, which would be great news for this declining species. Spotted Flycatcher perched on a broken trunk in a woodland clearing.

Once a rarity, now an established breeding species in parts of the UK but still notable to find a dozen Western Cattle Egrets in a field being rolled this morning on my patch.

Dunnock, the archetypal little brown job, but subtle warm browns and blue-grey colours make this a beautiful bird. Perched in front of a grey sky and a the blurred red brick of a building, giving away its semi-urban setting. If you'd told me a few years ago that Little Egrets would be outnumbered by Glossy Ibis and both Cattle & Great Egrets at this site in S Lincs I probably wouldn't have believed you. These 3 (of 4) were actually on the Cambridgeshire side of the river. #birding #localbirding #wildlife
