The M2 Money supply growth is over 19% year on year

And…

Scientists like Zeke Hausfather have known that growth is growing and yet... Again, growth is growing for CO2 and climate forcing (W/m2). Where do we go from here?

Would it help if we grew the human population and eating meat in the meantime too?

But if you plot M2 - real gdp growth vs. Inflation, you do.

M2 growth=17%
Real gdp growth= -6%

Inflation = ~ 23%

‘M2 y/y growth is back to 5.6% y/y, and climbed at a 7% annualized rate over the last 6 months. Either the Fed needs to get religion and shrink the balance sheet to rein in money growth, or inflation is going to remain stubbornly resistant to a return to 2%.’ inflationguy.blog/2026/07/14/i...

The Russian Central Bank Released updated data on the M2 money supply got the end of January 2025z

The money supply usually goes down a bit in January, but year one year, the rate went up just slightly.

It’s still over 19% growth.

Russia money supply growth just flipped.

2024-25: M2 (savings/term deposits) grew fastest as the CBR key rate hit 20% --> people chased high deposit yields.

2026: key rate cut to 14%, and now M0 (cash) +18.5% YoY beats M2 +13.2%. Deposits lost their edge.

6/ Back to M2. Notice the wedge the Fed introduced between total loans and total deposits. Those deposits are part of M2 but they no longer correspond to growth in economic activity.

P.S. Now posting day-to-day content like this only on Bluesky. Twitter only gets resistance against the oligarchy 🤣

Saw a lot of online chatter this weekend about the growth rate of the Canadian money supply (M2). Not surprisingly, it did rise faster than average during the pandemic, but in recent years as been at, or below, historic norms.

We see the strongest population and consumption (eating animals, cars, planes) in history. We therefore see atmospheric CO2 record growth and record °C and record forcing (W/m2). Also, something about El Nino.

The M2 Money Supply growth declined for the month of August, and this portends economic contraction in the economy.
Money supply is driven by business growth and consumer expenditures via fractional banking. If supply declines, growth follows.

‼️ The 3 month rolling average growth rate of the M2 money supply reached 19-20% over the past three months in Russia, per data from the Central Bank.

Inflation is driven by state owned banks issuing credit when there shouldn’t be. The Bank will likely have to raise the key rate from 18%.

“…the monetary effect of the budget deficit outweighs the effect of credit slowdown, so M2 growth is accelerating again. This means there may be no reduction in credit supply in September.”

My note: I agree the budget deficit might be up to 10 trillion rubles if nothing changes.

August was 1.71°C. You have the Sep data already? Land lags ocean °C by 3 months. Maybe 2026 won't be the hottest - but close.

My assumptions are based ongoing acceleration until 2030, what linear trends cannot consider. E.g. ppm growth, forcing (W/m2), albedo are all growing. Growth is growing.

The next major economic release will be is Tuesday with M2 Money Supply. If the pace of money growth slows, this shows continued decrease in economic activity from the tariffs. This is more of a leading indicator, and one of the key economic data points.

Category YoY growth (Jul 2025 → Jul 2026)
Cash (M0) +18.5%
M1 (cash + checking/demand accounts) +17.0%
M2 (+ savings/term deposits) +13.2%
Savings/term deposits alone +10.3%

Thats what I calculated.

"In normal, pre-Covid times, most economists would predict that 3.6% M2 growth would lead to a slowdown in economic growth and a decline in inflation. Yet today the chatter is all about whether inflation is going to rise."
