Last week, Ethical Trading Initiative released its position paper in support of mandatory human rights and environmental due diligence (hashtag#mHREDD) regulation in the UK.  As a member of ETI, we are pleased to see this strong position.

Australia now has the opportunity to meet that commitment and follow the lead of peers in the EU, Switzerland, and Korea by pursuing adoption of comprehensive mHREDD.

Looking ahead, this work continues at the upcoming meeting of the OECD Due Diligence Platform in early July.

OECD Watch will bring a civil society delegation to highlight the importance of stakeholder engagement, access to remedy, and just transition in shaping effective mHREDD frameworks.
