#malaphor
A MALAPHOR is when two metaphors are clumsily and incorrectly combined, such as 'It's as easy as riding a piece of cake' or 'We'll burn that bridge when we get to it'.

I was thinking malaphor, maybe?

"We'll burn that bridge when we get to it" is frankly too good to be a malaphor, whatever its origins.

"We’ll burn that bridge when we get to it" is my favorite malaphor.

FYI: A blending of cliches or idioms is called a malaphor.

"We’ll burn that bridge when we get to it."
"… not the sharpest egg to make an omelette."
"… until the cows freeze over."

Love a good malaphor:

Not rocket surgery
Hit the nail on the nose
Burn the midnight oil both ends
When the rubber hits the fan
Stick out like a sore throat
Burn that bridge when we get there
When pigs freeze over
You can’t teach a leopard new spots

don't use comma splices. don't use adverbs. don't use speech tags. don't use present tense. don't use grawlix. don't use gerunds. don't use malaphor. don't use paralepsis. don't be repetitive. eschew repetition. avoid repetitiousness. don't use the letter [redacted]. don't use sentence fragments. do

På engelsk heter dette en «malaphor», og det er dritgøy. Akkurat denne er vel neppe med vilje, men likevel da.

Clearly doesn't value the malaphor, like throwing stones in the bush.

Malapropism + metaphor => malaphor

That would be a malaphor if they were metaphors.

In a conference call for convention planning just now, I managed to malaphor "hold your horses" and "calm your tits" into "hold your tits" 🫠🙃

idk I kind'a like it, might keep using that one 😅

I love a good malaphor:

- It’s not exactly rocket surgery
- We’ll burn that bridge when we get to it.
- She’s burning the midnight oil at both ends.
- He’s not the brightest bulb in the toolbox.
