Copestylum hover flies always look like their faces are starting to melt off Raiders of the Lost Arc-style. This is C. marginatum, from Texas.

I had called this a Plagiomnium species a couple weeks ago, but I had missed the second sneaky set of teeth along the leaf margin. Upon revisitting the Mniaceae key, this is Mnium marginatum; final distinction being the 4 rows of linear marginal cells to rule out M. lycopodioides.

This scrambly little pea is #Gompholobium marginatum a common pea named for its thickened leaf margins! This widespread species is easy to spot with these bright yellow flowers!

Olivegreen Calcareous Moss - Mnium marginatum
First new to me of 2025. The fact this was from my yard is probably a good sign that I'll still be finding new-to-mes for years to come.
It's also my 100th moss species identified in my home province. Nice milestone.
