They've even partnered with the city of Saint Paul and @MayorCarter to erase medical debt for Saint Paul residents. So far, they've erased almost $40 million in medical debt from Saint Paul residents alone.

Let's bring that great work statewide.

If I were newly elected to the StP city council (& thank goodness I’m not!), I’d work to immediately lock down all official city Twitter accounts. Why? Just check out the replies on MayorCarter or CityOfSaintPaul posts—wall to wall deplorable right wing drivel. @mitrajunjalali.bsky.social

RIGHT NOW: Budget battle in St. Paul

If the council passes a budget with a 5.9% levy increase, @MayorCarter (who wants 6.9%) says the city would need to implement a hiring & spending freeze until it could assess the impacts — because it’s not clear what would need to be cut

DON’T VOTE 🗳️ on St. Paul’s 2 ballot questions (childcare subsidies, even-year elections) until you hear what
@MayorCarter
and the 7 members of the St. Paul City Council have to say. I hounded them by phone, email, text, hallway conversation for 2 weeks: www.twincities.com/2024/10/28/h...
How do the St. Paul mayor and city council plan to vote on two St. Paul ballot questions?
The first question asks voters whether to increase property taxes for childcare subsidies; the second would move municipal elections to presidential years.

ISAIAH leaders Duane Johnson and I were one of 23 testifiers speaking in support of Administrative Citations at this afternoon’s council meeting, and asking St. Paul City Council to vote for its passage on Jan. 22. #StPaulForAll Thanks to @MayorCarter and Ward2CMRebeccaNoecker for your support.

Excited to see @MayorCarter appoint strong candidates to the St. Paul Planning Commission, including folks taking my place as I step off. When I started in '12, it was not diverse. IIRC, maybe 4 POC out of 21 members. This criticism seems way off base....

Thank goodness for @MayorCarter on this case. Nobody knows the nuances of this neighborhood and the city's housing crisis better than he does. https://www.twincities.com/2021/04/14/st-paul-mayor-melvin-carter-promises-rare-veto-of-city-council-vote-against-alatus-housing-proposal/

Wow, @maxnesterak did a great job with his long piece today on the Saint Paul rent control debate. This covers pretty much everything, and has a lot of great quotes from @MayorCarter and many others....

Except for @MayorCarter being handily re-elected, I honestly have no idea how the election will go tomorrow. Can't wait to find out. A lot is at stake. If you live in Minneapolis or St. Paul, please go vote!

Interesting development. Mom likes Walz for this seat but likes Melvin Carter, Mayor of St. Paul, even better. She has had the opportunity to hear him speak a couple of times and was blown away by him #mayorcarter #melvincarter
Senator Tina Smith Won’t Run in 2026 as Democrats Face a Brutal Map
The Minnesota Democrat will leave her party defending another open seat as it confronts an uphill battle to retake the Senate. The move could also prompt a run from Gov. Tim Walz.

Dear @MayorCarter,
So long as the Minneapolis Police Department remains a violent, lethal, unaccountable entity, I ask that you immediately suspend all inter-agency cooperation with MPD in the interest of safety throughout the Twin Cities. —A Saint Paul Resident #AmirLocke

Good. Now let’s have this in the Twin Cities, @MayorCarter and @MayorFrey. Hospital capacity is critical and has been for months. Why would you not take this step?

November 15, 2024 at 1:12 AM
Any police officer who refuses to get vaccinated has told us everything we need to know about their interest in public safety. @MayorCarter, we’ll be safer without their “service” in every regard.

November 15, 2024 at 1:09 AM
Hey, @LundsandByerlys & @msmarketcoop. We’re not getting a citywide mask ordinance again any time soon (prove me wrong, @MayorCarter). But for the sake of the community, can you please follow the city’s recommendation and require masks for all shoppers and employees ASAP?
November 15, 2024 at 12:59 AM
If we must have an emergency curfew, @GovTimWalz, @MayorCarter & @MayorCarter, then can we also have moratoriums on police interventions in nonviolent crimes and on police stops for non-moving driving violations? I know which of the two emergency orders would make me feel safer.
November 15, 2024 at 12:48 AM
I am begging @MayorCarter in St. Paul and the mayors of all Twin Cities communities to do the bare minimum and instruct police to stop confronting citizens for these sorts of victimless, nuisance crimes. The evidence is overwhelming that the police are doing more harm than good.
November 15, 2024 at 12:48 AM
JUST IN: St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter (@MayorCarter) sent the city council last week a blistering critique of the childcare subsidy ballot question... His "No" STILL means "NO"...As in, the budget is too small to accomplish the task at hand, the city lacks staff for it, etc. etc.
