Currently slow reading Boy’s Life by Robert McCammon - one of my top three books of all time.

It’s such a joy to take it slow and really savour it. This is the book I recommend to everyone whenever I get the chance.

Anyway, I think the biggest share of male readers are primarily looking at #SFF (I base the assumption on my gut), but if you're a man looking outside that genre, you're left mostly with Tom Clancy-esque stuff. And society has deemed that genre as uncool, so...

...and because there are so few #mensfiction books out there, men don't have a lot to pick from so they lose interest in reading altogether, which makes publishing fiction books aimed at men even riskier, and fiction pub is extremely risk-adverse.

My gut feeling as to why men don't engage in fiction reading is there exists a feedback loop. Publishers know that the vast majority of fiction readers are women, and publishing is a business, so they make books for their biggest market segment, leading to a lack of #mensfiction works...
