So a fun fact is that, despite OCP guidelines against it, most of these systems are using nickel plated brass ball valves from the HVAC industry. Works fine if the nickel plating is there, but as soon as a tiny bit erodes, that will galvanically corrode and clog the cold plates microchannels w brass

Maybe people can go back to making forums for community engagement and guides/questions again instead of linking to their discord that has 30 microchannels, 10 different chat rooms for specific occasions (8 are never used), and pings @ everyone 2-3 times a day for the most inane shit possible

Desert horned lizards have microchannels in their skin that help them absorb water from raindrops and moist soil. Researchers used the lizards’ system that moves water into their mouths as inspiration to create a water-harvesting system. In PNAS: https://ow.ly/Wxx150ZhXeA

Sea urchin spines demonstrate mechano-electrical transduction, enabling them to sense the water currents moving around them. Their tapered spines have a structural gradient that enhances response potential up to 1,000 times more than vision in the same species! 🧪

Enhanced bacterial chemotaxis in confined microchannels occurs at lane widths matching circular swimming radius
Geometric confinement paradoxically enhances bacterial chemotaxis through chiral surface swimming and sidewall alignment, with optimal performance when lane width matches the circular swimming radius.

An active fluid confined in a two-dimensional square lattice of microchannels behaves like the six-vertex model from statistical mechanics—one of the earliest and most elegant examples of an exactly solvable model for interacting particles in a lattice.
Active Fluids Solve Icy “Six-Vertex” Model
Researchers demonstrate an active-fluid system whose behaviors map directly to predictions of the six-vertex model—an exactly solvable model that was originally developed to explain the behavior of ic...

And we know from experiments that the tusk is definitely a sensory organ: it can sense temperature, salinity, pressure, and pain. There are microchannels that expose pulp neurons to seawater.

But most females don't have these & yet they tend to live longer than tusked males. Why?
