Using micropatterning & thousands of hours on the microscope
@manuelthery.bsky.social and the #CytoMorphoLab reimagined the Musée D’Orsay. Accompanied by an orchestra and poet, their images transported us into the cellular universe. I remembered why I am a cell biologist. All of this is in us. Wow!

An egg-cellent use of micropatterning 🙌
Not all eggs are hidden in gardens 🥚🔬

Look how fibroblasts beautifully align along a micropatterned fibronectin "egg" created using photopatterning.

There's always room to play in science!

(Thanks @oozguc.bsky.social for the inspo 🙌)

🚨 Excited to share our new paper: “Long-range organization of intestinal 2D-crypts using exogenous Wnt3a micropatterning”! 🔗 doi.org/10.1038/s414...

Let’s dive into how we used Wnt3a micropatterning to control intestinal epithelial organization. 🧵👇

Hi I’m @vpmechbio.bsky.social, intrigued by how cells regulate their shape, by means of cytoskeleton and how this influences cellular function. One way to study this mechanism is to impose cells to certain geometric shape. Allow me to welcome you to the world of micropatterning!

4/14 A 2024 micropatterning study by the @xaviertrepat.bsky.social lab challenges this simplified leader–follower model. In 1D cell trains, motile leaders can only pull one passive follower—larger groups need coordinated, global organization!

Micropatterning provides certain adhesive protein islands so we can study mechanism governing cell shape. With triangle patterns of V, T and Y shapes, thick actin fibres are found to distribute on non-adhesive edges indicating increased contractility.
