I didn't try it with the 8040 yet. I didn't care for it when blending it with my 50/30 in midside for some reason. Seems best to avoid midside when crossing over.
It pairs extremely well with the schoeps. I blend at 30,000, the highest fabfilter crossover and 24dB slope. Some use 18 or 20khz.

This company makes a lot of insanely good plugins with a flat GUI, some of which (besides midside) are eminently useful, like Panpot, LoHi, and Tupe. I recommend seeing what kinds of sales they're running come BFCM time

I have that installed. I haven't found it super useful compared to the paid version of it, but I suppose it's not a bad place to start
