If someone genuinely believes that we're in a peer-level competition with Beijing, it is utterly foolish to cancel NIH and other research efforts primarily out of a Vought-driven ideological mission to terrify civil servants. It's utterly counterproductive.

First, the Bureau of Labor Statistics is really good, and the people who put the jobs numbers together are extremely dedicated, mission-driven, and extremely protective of data integrity. If there is political interference, I have no doubt we’ll hear about it.

It also reminds me of a work thing where I was asked to opine on public tech. The resident billionaire in the room became VISCERALLY angry when I used public media as a model for how we could build a mission driven, interest oriented response to social media 😭😭

The rescission bill has passed the Senate. Once it passes the House, as expected, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting's budget will be zeroed out for the first time since 1967, back when TV stations still broadcast in black and white.
