One thing I think optimistic settings could use more often in terms of a dramatic motor is conflicts between incompatible goods, which does imply that grimdark can use conflicts between incompatible evils as a motivatior...

Money was a second order consideration as far as I could see.
Being the great man of submersibles (ie. Elon Musk level ego & fame) seemed to be the primary motivatior.

It's Aroa, by far. I'd probably say 8.5/10. They have some pretty hard limits on the things they hate.

I'm moreso the mindset of "Hey, this was great. I wanna budget and work on personal skills that I can do at these cons for even better experiences later". Good motivatior

It's quite scary just how strong a motivatior racism is for some people. We see it in the US with trump's cult too. They will accept literally ANYTHING for the chance to back a racist bigot touting racist policies.
