I’m not a big fan of Apple mail on the phone, but I think it works well on a Mac. Safari is a good browser.
The Apple office apps are limited functionality compared to MSOffice, but for home use I think they are pretty good. Office is bloated and clunky.

This is what I use too. It does have some issues with more complex documents, but for nearly everything it's very similar to MSOffice. It also has a very large support community.

having said that the real challenges for Linux remain gaming (tho Valve made huge strides there) and MSOffice compatibility (which still requires more elbow grease than Bob from accounting is ready to put in)

I am genuinely baffled as to why anyone would pay for Excel, or any MSOffice product. I’ve been using OpenOffice, entirely free, for years and years and it works great.

This notion undoubtedly has great & noble intentions, but most people still aren't even switching off Chrome or MSOffice to FOSS alternatives. How does a monopoly get disrupted if most consumers have settled into complacency years ago?

Майкрософт някъде около Vista се промениха драстично, все едно не им пука изобщо. И то беше баш така, понеже бяха станали монополисти: целият бизнес свят се качи на win заради msoffice (excell, access и тн), все 'тая дали ще фейлне нещо или не.

Literally the explicit goddamn purpose of LibreOffice is to let people access MSOffice documents without having to pay money, and doing that locally rather than burning money and electricity tokenizing and parsing the document upstream is a win on all counts.
