Illinois grad here. Andreesen's fortune is built on research funded by the NSF at the UIUC super computing lab (NCSA). So on top of the vile racism, he's a hypocrite.

NSF paid marc andreessen's salary when he was writing NCSA Mosaic, then let him walk with the concept (and code, maybe? I forget) and start Netscape.
it's evocative of the government agency most directly responsible for the existence of cryptocurrency and "AI" is being destroyed by people who are mindlessly obsessed with tearing things down in favor of cryptocurrency and "AI"

Andressen's main claim to fame is that he pulled a Coding Weekender to 'clone' Mosaic (aka "steal public IP") to make Netscape right after the Supercollider project was canned.
NCSA Mosaic was paid-for with SSC money.

Mosaic made the early web simple & exciting. Text, images, data, audio, & video all in one window. Suddenly, the internet was something anyone could explore. Traffic soared & the web began its rapid growth.

he owes his entire career to being at UIUC with National Center for Supercomputing Applications funding when the web was taking off, which is how he helped create NCSA Mosaic and then paralyed that into Netscape! he would be nobody without federal research funding at a university!
