A lot of things are breaking right now, but possibly most alarming is the straining to breaking of this otherwise invisible net of social trust that is as necessary as the road, power lines, and water pipes. Indeed, it is the implied social contract infrastructure of all of those tools.

i personally think widely distributing nuclear-powered abuse and harassment tools is a net-negative, no matter how much faster it lets programmers write their CSS

you can tax the guy who makes the tools but then if the tools become widespread enough you've just made everything more expensive. the boring answer of higher taxation over a broad tax base that is redistributed through a robust social safety net is still better than any ONE WEIRD TRICK

if LLMs disappeared tomorrow it would probably be a net good for society, but they aren't going to, so I'm not going to pretend they aren't occasionally very useful tools.

The are people who want to develop for Linux with .NET but only want to use Microsoft provided tools, libraries and frameworks
Community built tools, libraries, and frameworks are unacceptable to these folks

Probably thebest practice I've found to be efficient in developing with GenAI tools:
Unit tests, unit tests, unit tests! (or other automated tests)
With this "security net" I am confident to run fast with these tools (incl agentic mode)
We should talk more about tests + GenAI... so important
