I was lucky enough to find this resting Nomad Bee in my garden yesterday evening. These are one of the Cuckoo Bees, laying their eggs in the nests of mining bees.

Not great ID shot but pretty sure Painted Nomad bee - male. We get loads of the host yellow legged mining bee ( only seen the males of those so far this year) @ianbeavis.bsky.social @solitarybee.bsky.social #nomadbee

Cleptoparasitic bees, follow a similar strategy,
1st one seen today, Painted Nomad Bee (Nomada fucata) - Parasitizes the Yellow-legged Mining Bee (Andrena flavipes).
2nd one seen, Gooden’s Nomad Bee (Nomada goodeniana) – Parasitizes the Buffish Mining Bee (Andrena nigroaenea).

No fuzzy hairs as they don’t collect pollen, & instead sneak their eggs into other bees’ nests
They also typically have longer stings & body armour to protect them from host bees defending their brood

I encountered this bee on a Surrey heath earlier. Using @StevenFalk1‘s great Flickr resource, I think it might be Nomada lathburiana - reddish hairs on top of thorax. Can anyone confirm?
