It doesn't belong "in" but especially in combat situations it's wise to make it available for those who still believe.

You and I know better but motivation is a powerful part of a functioning military.

Another side effect of that 1st amendment we cite as protecting our right to nonbelief as well.

An Afghan refugee in Pakistan told Secular Rescue that police had reportedly given nearby households three days to leave. They feared a return to Afghanistan as human rights defenders. On International Blasphemy Rights Day, help us reach more people: https://ow.ly/CnZP50ZThSj

Michelle Bachelet endured much criticism for her open agnosticism and secular reforms, but held true to her nonbelief during her two terms as president of Chile (2006 - 10, 2014 - 18).

Belief—or nonbelief—shouldn’t be a barrier to getting mental-health support. The Secular Therapy Project helps people find evidence-based, nonreligious therapists who respect their worldview. Find a therapist who works for you: https://www.seculartherapy.org/

I’m not familiar enough with UK comics to get the context behind low-hanging atheist shots. Is it like the smarmy atheists who use their nonbelief as an excuse to be an asshole and made me realize I don’t need to hang out with atheists to be an atheist?

Atheism is the nonbelief that there is a God.

That is a form of atheism, nonbelief that there is a God.

Science is often wrong because our observations, experiments and studies prove many scientific beliefs wrong. Religion is a personal set of values which usually includes a personal relationship with a creator of the universe most call God. Your nonbelief doesn't require you to disparage religion.

I’m envious of those who got to hear Ed & Lorraine Warren. I got to hear Chip Coffey speak (I won the scarf he was wearing!), and thought he was delightful.

It’s not about belief/nonbelief for me; I believe in everything. It’s the passion, the experiences, the knowledge…I love passionate humans. ❤️

This is correct, though it doesn’t mean practitioners are uniformly nonbelievers who’ve renounced devotional uses of the same texts, nor that belief or nonbelief necessarily correlate with a chosen research area, nor that personal beliefs are or are not conditioned by research or vice versa
In my field of Religious Studies, we have colleagues with very different views on politics, theology, and religious practices. But the field methodologically presumes religious texts are studied as historical texts and not the unquestioned word of God, which rules out most of today’s American right.

It's been about a year since I have taken over as the Chapter President. I want to say how delighted and encouraged I am to be able to welcome our new members.
Thank you all for your support in our mission to protect the separation of state and church and to help normalize nonbelief in public life.

As Sam Harris put it, the set of things we don't believe in is infinite. Trying to pin causation on nonbelief is incoherent. Someone, somewhere, would have to do more work than polling to even suggest causation for any atheist position, let alone an entire worldview.

To me, “Reddit atheist” has always been a thought terminating cliche to shut down any atheist for not being quiet about their apostasy or nonbelief. Like sorry I don’t believe in fake magic bullshit

I'm an apatheist. I don't care whether you believe or not, although I appreciate many religious traditions. I want to see the fruits of your belief or nonbelief. what kind of person does it make you?

“It struck me that 19th-century orator Robert Ingersoll, with his stout and consistent adherence to humanist principles, looked so much better than my own era’s public spokespeople for nonbelief that it was positively depressing.”
