#nonbelief
Michelle Bachelet endured much criticism for her open agnosticism and secular reforms, but held true to her nonbelief during her two terms as president of Chile (2006 - 10, 2014 - 18).

there are definitely atheists out there who use atheism as a cover for their personal bigotry but i don't think that my shared nonbelief in god implies that i bear responsibility for the other aspects of their ideology

Don’t read this if you haven’t watched the new Knives Out movie but I wrote about how the series only works because Blanc doesn’t treat the mysteries like a game but is always protecting the most vulnerable individual in the case

There are no shortcuts to being a good person, least of all "right belief" (including when that "right" belief is nonbelief).

Pluralism is the lifeblood of democracy. Get over yourselves, antitheists, and start prioritizing people's values and actions over their beliefs.

Signed, an atheist
Atheism is not a magic cure-all for anything, and prosteletizing is not welcome in my mentions.

Absolutely. I love the fact that Jud never really questions his faith and Blanc never questions his nonbelief; what they’re talking about is how to live in a way that’s true to what your purpose is, whether that’s God or not.

Right?

Another problem with the Reformation. Making nonbelief a thought crime. Doubt is not a sin.

Sometimes I write a pun so aggressively caustic that it makes me briefly question my nonbelief in demonic possession
THE DARKEST ONE'S ODOR IS BOTH DELIGHTFUL AND COMPLEX.

HIS PARTICULAR BOUQUET CHANGES OVER A LONG, INTRICATE EVOLUTION, LIKE A FINE WINE.

IT'S AN ELONGATED MUSK, IF YOU WILL.
I wonder what he smells like. He must have quite a distinct musk.

Because nothing says “religious freedom” like Dr. Phil.

Fish attended Trump’s “Religious Liberty Commission,” where the agenda wasn’t freedom. Nobody’s banning Christianity. They want government-backed religion and control.

A threat to belief, nonbelief, and conscience alike.

Great, if you protest genocide in London, you're basically a terrorist. Now if you criticize Christian nationalism in the US you're basically a terrorist.
I never knew I was so ~powerful~ and /threatening/

One advantage of nonbelief is not having to pray for the awful.

However, a country where people are threatened and killed for their beliefs and speech is not a country I want.

These are not mutually exclusive btw. Many start as one, become the other (or both) over time.

Alex jones started normalish, became a grifter as he got more attention from the right, became an actual freak as he surrounded himself with freaks, and went back to nonbelief but he’s audience captured

Every gender, every ethnicity, every belief or nonbelief...every life lived is such a beautiful thing. Now is the time for the aggressors to lay down arms, to join in the people they've oppressed, to forget their fear and doubt and experience the true love and light of peace and trust and acceptance

Confusing material beliefs for intangible ones and trying to enforce belief or nonbelief on others gets people into all sorts of sticky messes tbh, it's antihuman in nature. It negates that we all have inner worlds.
