been seeing some misconceptions going around and claims that this has to have been a company, the creator is american bc the whois says delaware, etc. no. it's all been deliberately obfuscated by the tool he used, and delaware is a tax haven

so this dirty tactic has worked before. it works a lot. they intentionally confuse voters into thinking there's something they need to enshrine in law when there isn't, and then voters pass something that they may not have actually wanted, because the true nature of the amendment was obfuscated

Yeah, people really do not understand AI. Its not like claude is just a thing you download and type prompts into that spit out code, theres way more moving parts to it and theres certainly ways AI use can be obfuscated

This is like replacing physical buttons with touch screens, like I know surely somewhere under the hood or at these companies they might have more concrete ways to actually interface with the tech as it is instead of obfuscated... maybe??? but this isn't what anyone is getting at scale

This time, like CA there were multiple confusingly-worded initiatives, but trans sports *was* pretty specific — so yeah it f*cking sucks.

A friend of mine leans conspiracy-curious, and in 2020 I had to explain to him the very valid reason why PA voter rolls had birthdates obfuscated. I'm on your side, and the federal govt's disingenuous jihad against "voter fraud" had very real side- effects.

The uproar and subsequent nothing-burgerness of the TikTok ban obfuscated the very real data privacy concerns. We can fix those now, and in doing so solve the NatSec concerns too. bsky.app/profile/trav...
The short version is that we’re *totally fine* with data brokers gobbling up user data on Americans, selling it and using it for whatever sometimes-nefarious purposes they choose. We are not OK with a CCP-linked company doing it. I’m not sure why the latter is a problem but the former isn’t.
I am completely unconvinced TikTok is somehow more harmful to anyone than Instagram Reels.
