When the house was converted from a single family residence to an apartment building, our closet was a kitchen in one of the apartments. Interesting to see the old gas hookups (which are disconnected) and the places they hung cabinets in negative paint spaces.

"Me: “I guess, I didn’t really mean to.” Mom: “I know how that is, sometimes it just sneaks up on you.” She came into the room and sat on the bed next to me. Me: “... Is something wrong?” Mom: “Hm? No, no. Just an annoying customer, it happens.” She didn’t look at me when she gave me that excuse, and I didn’t really believe her. But I leaned against her, and she lifted her arm so I could hug her. Me: “I’m sorry. If you want, I could call [cousin] to pick me up so you don’t have to drive me back.” Mom: “No! No, honey, that’s not a problem, I just… Well, I wanted to ask if you might consider staying the weekend.” She didn’t look at me when she asked this, though she still had her arm around me in that side hug. Me: “I-I can, if you want me to…” I felt her chuckle a little. Mom: “This house just gets a little empty, is all. I’ll run you by [cousin]’s house, you can grab some clothes, and we’ll pick up something to bring back for dinner, if that works with you?” And it did. She kissed me on the top of my head, and left to use the bathroom before we left. I sat there for a minute, playing with my hair where she’d kissed. I couldn’t remember the last time my other mom had kissed the top of my head, or shown me any affection at all really… A pit of what had to be sadness, maybe loss, grew-" the sentence is cut off "in my stomach thinking about that, but the warmth where my trans mom had kissed me staved it off. She came back into the room, we left, I packed some clothes at my cousin's house, and we grabbed some food. By the time we got back to her house, the sun was setting. I changed into some pajamas, and she invited me to watch tv with her. I don’t remember exactly what show it was, I just remember sitting on the couch next to her, slowly leaning into her more and more as time passed, occasionally us talking about something the show brought up. I’m writing about all of this because it didn’t happen again. Me getting erect, I mean. But I was incredibly paranoid about it- paying way more attention to my body, to her, trying to keep tabs on everything to make sure I wasn’t going to embarrass myself again. I managed not to get hard, sitting there on her couch in a night gown and shorts (to avoid making the same mistake twice), with her arm around me and my cheek pressed against her chest. But I did notice how good she smelled. I don’t really know exactly what it was, whether it was her shampoo or her sweat or some mix of things. But it smelled warm and sweet, kind of like milk and honey, but a little smokier, or maybe wilder? I found myself taking slow, deep breaths, nestled under her arm like that, to breathe it in as much as I could. By the time I went to bed, I felt like I had memorized her smell. It feels a little pathetic to admit this, but I lay face down on the bed in the purple guest room, pressing my nose into the pillows and just trying to pretend it was her I was laying against. " "So, to get to my point I guess, is this normal…? A lot of you said the erection thing was normal, that you experienced that when reconnecting emotionally with family or old friends or whatever, but I guess I’m worried about sounding like a creep, a little. And maybe it’s just that she’s my mom I haven’t known, like maybe there’s some like instinct or something that makes her just smell good and comforting to me? Apart from Putin's help, it was basically men, young and old, who put Trump in the White House. They thought he "spoke their language" with his crude comments about females. And it was no accident those nude photos of Melania suddenly appeared in the media. It was done to attract the male voters.

My mom was about 8 when they got an indoor toilet and they did not get hot water in the house until she was 18--and SHE paid for it because she dropped out of school and got a job when she was 17. SHE bought my grandma a water heater in 1960. (Grandfather bailed when Mom was 18 months old)

Yes! When I was a kid I lived behind a Sunkist lemon packing house near Oxnard, Ca. Each harvest season, a train would drop off very old converted passenger cars between the house and my parents house. Latino workers and families lived, cooked and slept in the cars. I worked in ag. and horticulture.
