Stonefish
Seahorses
pipefish
Electric eels
Ocean sunfish
Archer fish
X-ray tetras
Remora
Zebra Turkey fish
Paddlefish
Flying fish
Whale shark
Moray eel

Saw most of these from my not misspent youth wandering about Seinhardt Aquarium.

(In checking I found out ocean sunfish is also Mola mola. Cool)

I would be so bad at this list, because they are all freaky (I have a phobia).

I mean, just look at catfish. Freaks! Eels? Freaks! Carp? Freaks who are way too curious with big scales and creepy mouths! Paddlefish? Are you kidding me?

(I still love all those freaks though)
If you were making a list of the world's freakiest fish, which would you put on the list?

So far I'm thinking
Viperfish
Mola Mola
Anglerfish
Oarfish
Humphead Wrasse
Telescope fish
Red lipped batfish
Barrel eye

Paddlefish! Also the sarcastic fringehead, partly for its intrinsic weirdness and partly for the name.

A sure sign that it's October in Yankton.
Opening Day Catch
The first day of October means the beginning of paddlefish snagging season in the Missouri River tailwaters below Gavins Point Dam, and the annual opener drew in anglers from across

Does it have to be ocean fish? Because paddlefish are freaks, more so because lake fish are supposed to be *normal*.

I was camping one time in IIRC Oklahoma and there was an enormous dead one on the shore and everybody was like "nope, not swimming in that lake now, that ain't right."

On a spring day 🌸🌿 66 million years ago, paddlefish and sturgeon swam in a river 🌊 that meandered through a flourishing landscape populated by mighty dinosaurs and small mammals at North Dakota's southwestern corner.

REPORTS ARE IN: Andrew Murray has announced his new brand, “Vase Sailings”! They sell calfs, water that tastes like 8-299 years-old paddlefish and, occasionally, solid metre cubes of polonium in badly marked XXXXXXL glass jars.

Got delayed out of Seattle and to kill time ended up at the Exquisite Creatures exhibit. They have a paddlefish skull on display (along with many other beautiful creatures). But can anyone tell me how the hell this bone pattern depositing happens?! WILD!

In my latest story for the Smithsonian, I was lucky enough to get to know the American paddlefish – a threatened fish that predates the dinosaurs and has incredible sensory capabilities thanks to its long snoot.

As discussed in the article - range is (officially) 200km. How did they reach moscow?
My first thought is that the range issue has been maskirovka. Or has it improved massively during the development.

Anyway, if true it is nice 🥳

Was delighted to see these remarkable actinopt lineages highlighted in "From These Lands," a temporary exhibit at NMNH highlighting the natural and cultural heritage of the US for the 250th.
