Going to the doctor these days feels like a battle of wills just like this. Why bother if they don’t listen.

“Sound, vibration, even a breeze can send our pain levels soaring. This is so hard to convey to healthy people, who have a tendency to think that it can’t be that bad—but it is. CRPS’ perplexing symptoms and pain are incredibly real to us.” https://buff.ly/pNO6lzb #CRPS #McGillPainIndex #PainScale

“PainScale has reported, ‘The assumption that opioid therapy is not an effective treatment for chronic pain is simply not true,’ calling it a ‘myth.’”

Hooooboy, come live in my painscale, doc.

I had a physiotherapist who told me that the obnoxious painscale should be better understood as a distraction scale, pain of 1 can be forgotten by a light breeze, upping the need, 5 is an intense game or talk, and 10 is when you don't notice someone proposes to you
Made more sense to me

Examples of where some of my diagnoses lie on the McGill Pain Scale an indexing for things "maxing out typical pain scales". Red is for unsure if the constant agonizing burning on my hands is CRPS or "just" Multiple Sclerosis but I'm getting more MRIs booked :(

atleast nothings terminal? :/

I hate the painscale.

i said 6, do you not understand how insane that is?

no because a number without clear guidelines means nothing. and if you gave them it doesnt account for "root canal without anesthetic being like.....a 6.

Season 2 of Beef has an episode that takes on the medical system in the United States, but does so in a way that's the tonal and total opposite of The Pitt.

life will show me more painscale 8s, 9s, and 10s before i am done. maybe more than a lot of bodies see in a lifetime. this puts me in a unique position to sit with pain and interrogate what demands action+urgency from me. honest answer: not much, if i aim to live, and i do. i like living

#chronicpain girlies: do you have a pain/flare tracker app that you "like" enough to recommend? the one i have been using (painscale) is shutting down. features important to me are privacy, granular body area tracking, and tracking triggers
