This would not necessarily imply a durable realignment, as D-partisan Independents might end up being just as fickle in the future! But in an era of weak parties and decreasing party affiliation, it would not *surprise* me if this is what follows off of the decades of negative partisanship.

I have a theory that this is where the most stupid kinds of hyper-partisanship come from. I don't think anyone with a true passion for art, music, literature etc could ever fall quite so in love with the Labour Party as so many people do.

Anyway, Scotland and Wales making terrible decisions is not devolution not working. A bit of internal competition is good. What is not working is political accountability, because the politics of Scotland have long been compromised by nationalism and Wales by hyper-partisanship and now nationalism.
