totally just cheered a PBOT worker ticketing a dickhead parked halfway into the crosswalk (and initially accidentally scared her because i yelled FUCK YEAH in hardcore voice)

PBOT won’t happy until every last trace of pandemic era outdoor dining is eliminated
coffee beer (lovely little coffeee shop/taproom on se 42nd and gladstone) posted on instagram that their patio is going away because they can’t afford $3000 in fees on top of another $3-5000 in construction costs to bring the patio up to code

Councilor Zimmerman just made a PBOT employee cry in a city hall meeting. Very normal and reasonable temperament 👍

Can PBOT fine them for blocking the bike lane?
PPB wanted to show off one of their toys today. Parked (and running!) at Davis & 3rd for the better part of today. A cop told me it was for “extra police presence (gestured vaguely around)… nothing special”

traffic violence is a choice that PBOT makes every day, and PBOT is directed by the people we elect

Go Portland Go sounds like a whimsy rebrand of PBOT that Sam Adams would have proposed in 2007

Last night a contractor working for PBOT began pouring the concrete traffic separators N Willamette Boulevard using a curb extruder.

I like the new 4th Ave bike lane PBOT put in, but in the future, this is what we should be aiming for.
Pretty flower-lined bike lane on a rainy morning in Shanghai

I like this small change in PBOT design for protected bike lane concrete curb. More of a deterrent to drivers.

It's a good idea. I just raised your question and PBOT will put the idea into consideration.
hi @councilormorillo.bsky.social @councilorgreen.bsky.social I'm watching the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee meeting today - wonder if the retail + prepared foods fees proposed would make sense to have exemptions for bike / non-car delivery. Anything to drive mode share change!

Wilson appears to have saved PBOT from the worst impacts of a very sour city budget
Mayor wants to raise parking and rideshare fees to buoy PBOT budget
He's staved off the worst predictions.

Atmospheric river conditions are here and PBOT is prepared. An estimated 1.65 inches of rain is expected to fall through tomorrow and could result in some localized street flooding.

Here's what PBOT is doing to prepare:

PBOT has made major progress on the N Willamette Blvd project. Here’s the new bikeway going south into the N Rosa Parks turn.

20 years ago today, PBOT had just unveiled those nice bikeway network signs you see all over the city.

Well, PBOT got what they wanted and the street seating at Taqueria Los Puñales has been removed. But at least we have two extra parking spaces on Belmont.

Stoked to have Kanal as my rep on the PBOT committee.

Kind of interesting to see all the pieces of the bike network PBOT has built since 2020. All the lines in yellow.

(slide shown by PBOT Bike Coordinator Roger Geller at Bike Advisory Committee meeting just now.)

Wait did pbot suggest this? Can you tell me who?

Met the engineer at PBOT that made the blue lights that detect bikes so the streetlights change to green faster, felt like a celeb sighting fr 🚦✨

Our city employees are so cool we are so lucky!

TBD on what this means for PBOT leadership.
For those following the ins/outs in Portland City Hall:

Priya Dhanapal is stepping down as deputy city admin overseeing public works. We saw a similar exit for former public safety DCA Bob Cozzie earlier this year. PBOT Director Millicent Williams will step in as interim public works DCA.

I’m pretty firmly against Waymo and I’m not buying arguments that it’s safer based on what I’ve seen. Mayor Wilson gave approval to them before going through a PBOT process or with Council…so we’re gonna have to correct that.
@pnwpolicyangel.bsky.social just saw a Waymo speeding down our street in the Brooklyn neighborhood. Definitely above the speed limit and seems like it ignored the stop sign based on the speed it was hitting in the intersection. Can we please ban these things from our streets? Thanks!!!

Oh, I'm saving this one for every PBOT town hall.
If only the pros outweighed the cons.
