#pileon
This place has a pileon/harassment problem. My theory why, is that Twitter was accidentally designed as a pileon engine, and then Bluesky copied Twitter's design in the simplest form possible without adopting the anti-pileon innovations of Mastodon, Cohost, *or Twitter*.

That's on Bluesky Social.
why do the people who're concerned about bluesky's growth always pin the blame on leftists being mean, instead of on the people who run bluesky seeming totally uninterested in growing it at all. all their effort goes on faffing around with nonsense that nobody who actually uses the site cares about

people have raised extremely serious problems with his story (namely, that Lucre watermarked the worst CSAM on earth and was clearly lying about how he acquired it) and the response is to be snarky about the bluesky pileon

what is going on in the newsroom there

"the trannies instigated a pileon against me" have you considered that you deserved it
September 30, 2026 at 7:24 PM
this isn't elon's place you dork, no one is coming for your attempted nazi pileon
Here's another, giggling throug
Yes, Sonia is doing wrong things when she could be doing right things

anyone saying anything publicly at a leftist event is liable to get decontexted and set up for a pileon by random asshole libs and right wing hate farming accounts, but what's pernicious is alleged leftists joining in
September 7, 2026 at 2:22 AM
I'm fucking losing it at there being a transmisogynistic pileon accusing Parker of "furphobia" because she dared question why gamers cannot stand the sight of an unobjectified woman
January 4, 2026 at 8:41 PM
Shhh... they're doing a Bluesky groupthink pileon because engaging with the referenced topic would require effort.
September 6, 2026 at 10:50 PM
Maybe just detecting a pileon and making sure it doesn't show up in the discover feed of people likely to participate?
Bluesky needs to handle this sort of pattern at a platform level. This is a ridiculously common experience and it is killing the platform to allow these anti-ai assholes to remain unchecked.

Self-directed moderation is not enough.
Alright everyone, message received. I was not expecting this response, I honestly had no idea before I made the post

Like I said, the code is experimental. A proof of concept showing that PDN-on-WINE is possible. It's not finished. I can literally just delete it. It won't be part of the next build.

Yeah, Reed is absolutely not a bot. This is the sort of thing -- claiming that regular people who don't like him are trolls/bots/Russians/whatever -- that STARTED THE PILEON IN THE FIRST PLACE.

(I blocked Stancil after he joined in a pileon against me, quote-skeeting me saying that quote-skeet pileons are bad (the post that started this particular pileon on me) to say it's OK when he does it because none of his followers would ever attack anyone.
September 13, 2026 at 11:47 PM
fun fact: the person in this screencap (Effy) was one of the major people involved in the pileon on Isabel Fall.
real "not making this up" hours out here

the internet pileon is the most perfect observational window into mob mentality- people will race across to chuck a stone because everyone is and for about 95% of them, thats all the reason ever needed
I said this in another post. This was obviously a coordinated attack. Cleves posted & immediately dozens of historians pile on.

It was depressing how many comics folk swallowed it whole and blasted Walden. Without having even read her book, let alone Cleves, to see if this was valid. It wasn't.

Just one more pileon sis. sis please just one more pileon and then i'm good. sis please let me have one more pileon
I don’t like pile-ons to mock other people in the community
March 28, 2025 at 7:30 PM
"my followers are exceedingly normal" dude I know you're Literally The Worst at statistics but if you have 50k followers and 1% of them are absolute maniacs, that's still a 500-person pileon
July 18, 2026 at 4:43 AM
yup. Just in general, I don't like being part of a bullying pileon
May 28, 2025 at 12:24 PM
Bluesky Playground pile ons are far preferable to Twitter pile ons…

#PILEON!

anti-pileon, even
April 27, 2025 at 5:21 PM
aaaaand promptly the pileon from genocide denialists has begun. blocks all around!
September 9, 2026 at 12:41 AM
The thing about this (and please don’t start a pileon) is that it’s actually just not true.

Zack and all of the MPs have been shouting from the rooftops about the climate and the heatwaves and droughts all summer
Yeah I guess they could try talking about the climate, seems like it would be good fit for them

For reference, A Kiwifarms-pileon was causing hundreds of harassing messages in my DMs because I was defending furry kinks and the Harkness Test

One of the many people in my DMs said they were a minor after they had started a conversation with me about kinks I said I was uncomfortable and blocked
September 20, 2025 at 7:42 PM
My instagram has become one endless pileon of jews who are mad about my most recent post and want to call me horrible names + then flood all my other posts if I dare turn off commenting (and yes, I remember this from twitter, it's just been a while) and I am so weary about the fragility + lack of +
May 7, 2024 at 7:32 PM
It seems pretty clear that they're doing the standard hateclickbait schtick. The choice to sneer at the camera is essentially begging for a lib pileon they can turn into more content later.
May 15, 2026 at 12:34 AM
Closing the discussion probably helped prevent a pileon.
November 27, 2025 at 7:28 PM
IIRC Ditum wrote a column that weekend about how she had been the victim of a misogynistic Twitter pileon
July 13, 2025 at 6:26 PM
Today's pileon is about 2024 data which is unaffected by that though bsky.app/profile/pear...
This is a rehash of the vibecession debates but median household income adjusted for inflation hit a record in 2024 (2025 data will be released in September). It’s just *not true* in any objective sense that people don’t have money anymore. It may *feel* that way but that’s different from reality.
My take is that people don't have money anymore. Jobs that used to make decent money no longer do so. Healthcare and rent are unaffordable.

Everything costs way too much.
