🎙️Mic check: Pierre Poilievre is wrong yet again. 🎤

A new report by leading economics professors at the University of Calgary confirms that #pollutionPricing is not driving up inflation in the way Mr. Poilievre claims.

In their study, Winter & Tombe found that #pollutionPricing has contributed to less than 0.5% of the increase in consumer prices since 2019.

That’s a small & nearly insignificant fraction of the overall increase in costs Canadians have faced.

TO ADD: the report suggests that any alternative to reduce carbon emissions would come at an even higher cost.

#PollutionPricing remains one of the most #effective and #affordable strategies.

The report also reaffirms what we’ve always said: the Canada Carbon Rebate works. It offsets the costs of #pollutionPricing for most Canadians, ensuring families—especially those with lower incomes—are better off.

Pollution pricing is delivering real results.

By 2030, it’s projected to account for as much as 1/3 of Canada’s emissions reductions.

Between 2019 and 2021 alone, #pollutionPricing prevented 18 megatonnes of emissions that would otherwise have entered our atmosphere.

And yet, some critics continue to fail to account for the real benefits of #pollutionPricing, such as avoiding costly climate damages and creating a stronger, cleaner economy for the future. 👀

"If you make a mess, clean it up."

This is the basis of pollution pricing. It is a very reasonable request. Very Canadian.

You can get involved.

Yes, indeed.
Our ecological debt is huge and growing.
Neoliberals and Conservatives like to talk about fiscal responsibility while they avoid being major contributor factors to the ever increasing ecological debt.
Time to pay up!

Thanks to you Michael, for helping us promote our efforts to save pollution pricing in Canada! Climate change is the largest debt to be passed from one generation to the next in our history. Younger and future generations are poised to inherit the messes we’ve made, but failed to clean up.
