God bless the PPCLI.
I found this after stumbling upon the "sniping UN peacekeepers" video in question, which really pissed me off after reading about the Medak Pocket. While it's true that peacekeeping is deeply flawed, the edgy "blue helmets are all useless/corrupt" take has almost certainly made the world worse.

Broken sword. Drill out hands to give him a flagpole.
Swap heads. PPCLI now have an Ensign to carry the Regimental Colours.

Rather chaotic. Have a headache from essentially GMing 3 different games simultaneously.

Cadets canceled by snow tonight. So I got the PPCLI reinforcements finished and glued to bases.

This gets the force up to 40 figures.

🧵🧵🧵Over the holiday I picked up a memoir written by Hub Gray, Korean War veteran who was a lieutenant with a local infantry regiment (The PPCLI). Tucked away in the back half, Gray describes a disturbing incident where him and the 34 men under his command witness an apparent bio weapon test

My BNOC training NCO was MWO Baumgarten of the PPCLI. The WO who taught me how to gut-out the impossibly endless ruck march up and down several mountains? PPCLI.
Don't mess with the PPCLI.

My father was career military, I was named after the PPCLI & like many of my generation, our parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents served, sacrificed and lived through not one, but two world wars - and others. I grew up with their stories and lived experience.

What I do know is that without training, you are liable to shit yourself. I also know that units like the PPCLI are very well trained, and I know that I wouldn't talk shit about people who have fought and bled along side your own armed forces.

Five of the soldiers on the list were killed by friendly fire from American air strikes.

Private Richard Anthony Green, Corporal Ainsworth Dyer, Sergeant Marc Daniel Léger and Private Nathan Lloyd Smith, PPCLI, on April 17, 2002.

Private Mark Anthony Graham, RCR, on Sept. 4, 2006.

I heard this and felt the same. My father was career military, I was born during his posting in AB and named Patricia after the PPCLI!

The Light Infantry Regiment is a good idea, although it will interact strangely with the existing battle honours and regimental identities for the PPCLI, Vandoos and RCR. It’s a concept that’s been tried before and can hopefully be executed properly today without any distribution of Klan literature.

The war ended not long after. Then 45 years later, Gray searched the PPCLI archives at his regimental museum (@themilitarymuseums) and, he writes, was shocked there was no mention of the incident. It simply wasn’t recorded. Not anywhere. He looked elsewhere.

In the years Canada was in Afghanistan, my colleagues and I repeatedly had to profile soldiers who died there.

Here are some that I wrote or co-wrote.

Cpl. Jason Warren, Black Watch, and Cpl. Francisco Gomez,
Lord Strathcona's Horse, attached to PPCLI.

'Me fine. Still alive,' Corporal Jason Warren wrote from Afghanistan this spring. Yesterday, funeral plans were made for him and Cpl. Francisco Gomez. Both died Saturday.
Though a reservist, Corporal Jason Warren had volunteered for a six-month tour in Kandahar. He died Saturday, just two weeks short of leaving the combat zone for a week of decompressing in Cyprus befo...

Meanwhile, my PPCLI friends are like "Americans think Pete Hegseth is an alcoholic, but we can't even serve him in a Canadian bar because we don't know how to put training wheels on a Bud Light."
