Not a great look, PRH

[longest most depressed sigh]

RISEBALL, 2027, dutton PRH
“That kid is hitting too many homers she must be a boy. Let’s strip her pants in the batter’s box to check.”

Do these people realize how much more this endangers young girls than having a trans kid on the team?
Are these states planning to employ child genital inspectors or what?

Glad to be in the PRH family. (Penguin Random House / Pantheon.)

Harper-Collins didn't sign.

They are OWNED BY MURDOCH.

If you've ever been impressed by something PRH did to fight book bans, it's because Skip fought for it to happen.
💯 No one has been more central to the publishing industry’s efforts to fight censorship than Skip Dye. Thank you to Skip and the entire PRH team for your generosity, expertise & tireless commitment to defending the freedom to read & supporting libraries.

Despite a paper trail proving otherwise, Unbound’s administrators claimed they still owned the rights to Effin’ Birds and threatened to sue Penguin Random House if PRH paid me any royalties for my ongoing book sales. Wasn’t resolved until two months ago.

They tried to bankrupt me out of spite.
If you ever get pissed off about me mentioning my books on here & decide to complain about it, do remember as I instantly block you that I'm coming from the perspective of someone who had £20,000+ of earnings stolen from him by his ex-publishers & could not give less of a flying fuck what you think.
BIG NEWS: I have a new short story collection coming out in September & I'm doing it a different way, publishing it in collaboration with the new collective @breakthroughbook.bsky.social. You can read about it - & assist with printing costs by ordering a copy - here: www.tom-cox.com/my-next-book...

oh my god, the even more fucked up sequel to RISEBALL (2027, dutton PRH)
Here's something incredible I found: Georgia Gwinnett softball has identical TRIPLETS on their team. Apparently they were different color earrings to differentiate. @sickoscommittee.org @dirtbagqueer.rocks

I’m literally speechless. What an absolutely, patently stupid move from PRH. We are hugely poorer for it.

That’s wonderful! I hope PRH will commit to not using AI in the creation of covers, audiobooks, translations, marketing, editing, copy-editing, or proofreading, or basically anywhere else in the process.
Berkley, a large romance imprint of Penguin Random House, on AI submissions:

"Authors may not make submissions that have used AI in their creation, whether in the outlining or writing of the manuscript."

I'll be honest, if this ends up in a JKR vs PRH lawsuit I'm going to laugh for weeks.

I got an email from PRH saying they are suing Idaho and fighting back on banned books.

All five of the fiction titles on the list are from PRH. That seems bad.

Seeing execs admit they had no idea what they were doing was the wildest part of the PRH/Simon & Schuster trial.

Here’s the good news: I have completed four new Effin’ Birds projects with PRH that will see their worldwide debuts over the next six months.

- an all-new postcard set (October 2026, in preorders now)
- a sticker book (early ‘27)
- an affirmation set (mid ‘27)
- an oracle deck (late ‘27)
