#pro-consumer
I believe there is a proposed rule to do just this but of course the cyclical regime in power isn’t going to impose it. Dems should make it a quick legislative priority next year among other commonsense consumer and pro-family reforms

OpenAI's Dots is their answer to Meta's Muse — but it's a coworker, not a shopper. Cloud computer + Blender/GIMP + access to your PC, callable by phone. Verge: fumbles consumer tasks, great at work (site redesign, video, deploys). Gated to $100/mo Pro. Codex for the rest of us. #AI

The rising costs of RAM and other components are even driving up prices of older consumer electronics devices. The NVIDIA Shield TV Pro has been around since 2019, but instead of getting cheaper over time, it now costs $300 after a $100 price increase. 9to5google.com/2026/10/02/n...

While the Trump administration goes anti-consumer, New York City is going pro-consumer. Might explain why Mamdani is popular and Trump is not.
New York City's 'click to cancel' subscription rule takes effect, joining states with similar laws
The Big Apple joins a growing number of jurisdictions adopting 'click to cancel' rules as the future of a federal standard remains unsettled.

The solution isn't hard. Heavily Tax AI companies to slow their growth and force them to stop buying the excess memory.

This would provide consumer relief as AI companies cancel existing orders.

It isn't hard being pro-consumer, if you are not corrupt.

Memory executives expect RAM shortage to continue through 2028
Prices for memory sold for 2027 "are much higher than 2026 prices."

Imagine being Brad Bird selling your soul to Palestinian Genociders and a known rapist to not even get to make your dream film 2D like you wanted.

I’ve heard more “pro-consumer” deals from old Drug dealers and devils…. In media.

Skydance Animation are not beating the “Diet Pixar” accusations.
Brad Bird says ‘Ray Gunn’ was made in 3D CG partly because studios are afraid hand-drawn 2D animation won’t be commercially successful:

“I don’t agree that hand-drawn animation isn’t commercial, which is what the industry believes.”

I agree, but would suggest its unfair to single our the British as being especially self centred.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for "rejoin" - but as with "leave" there are reasons why some people wanted it that were entirely valid.

Just because it is the best "pro consumer" doesn’t mean its good

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the very fact that a company chooses to run a commercial service with a micropayment hell model is as clear of a statement as it can get that they have absolutely no interest in doing anything pro-consumer ever. You can 100% count on them to fuck you over.

I think you’re missing the big story. It’s Republicans who are having the real awkward time with this. They’re not exactly the pro-consumer party. And their own president says “let data reign.”

The Undefeated Debate Club Episode 39: Should GMO Foods Be Labeled by Law?
In a debate over mandatory GMO labeling, Yui (Pro) argues for the consumer's right to know and the elimination of information asymmetry, positioning labeling as the first step toward building a fair relationship between producers and consumers. Shiori (Con) counters that labeling scientifically safe technology only fuels unnecessary consumer anxiety and is an inefficient regulation that creates immense costs and economic disparities.

Consumer tech has been screwed since early this year.
