It's not just grants being paused -- it's also government contracts + procurements.

When boring old procurements turns bad…
NEW — An obscure Navy contractor program is making Trump’s plans to quickly build out and supply immigrant concentration camps around the country a reality.

Here I explain WEXMAC TITUS, an acronym you need to understand:
For ICE to build concentration camps quickly, they're leaning on this Dept. of War program
WEXMAC TITUS helps contractors bypass the traditionally lengthy government contract bidding process

Together, these proposals:

1) Increase accountability
2) Reduce redundant spending
3) Grow compliance rates for school-level purchases
4) Decrease retroactive and emergency procurements
5) Accelerate the procurement cycle

Trump has announced he's going to "overhaul" the $1 trillion a year federal procurements process. What could possibly go wrong, especially since he recently suggested he doesn't have to follow the Administrative Procedure Act & just announces his desired changes? www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-st...

On Monday evening, Rachel Maddow spotlighted this group working out of Baltimore. Just another in a long list of unsung, American heroes. Donate to their project!

Project Salt Box: How citizen sleuths are monitoring ICE in Maryland
Inside their homes scattered around the Baltimore area, the group of watchdogs is unearthing records, like property filings, contracts, and government procurements, that are otherwise overlooked.

In other words, Trump will now award contracts/procurements to those who pay him $100million.

Canada needs to immediately cancel most procurements, military & non-military, from all levels of Canadian govts, which are from the U.S. if they don’t stop insulting us with 51st state/governor/annexation bullshit and if they don’t stop the tariffs.

This includes F-35s.

and its even better than that ... tens of billions of dollars on US procurements CANCELLED.

With immediate aid still held up and future food procurements in limbo, a former USAID official warns of “a global catastrophe.”

This is an incredibly alarming article that demonstrates how Oakland City Council continues its pattern of meddling with ongoing procurements, but also that firms participating in procurements and their lobbyists feel comfortable brazenly violating clear bidding rules.

With Trump's election, while the UK is unlikely to reverse Brexit anytime soon, the UK should at least focus on collaborating with the EU on defense procurements
November 20, 2024 at 12:50 PM
Hence why cranks who claimed "defense contractors want this war" were always stupid*. As far as they are concerned, this war is a disaster as who will spend billions on defence procurements that can be destroyed by drones that cost 1% the price?

Hence by Rhinemittal CEO dumps on drones.

The article fail to touch on the crazier demands by the US. Golden dome, defence procurements, first refusal right for the US for strategic minerals, weakening even more our digital sovereignty. Etc. They want a vassal, not a trade partner.

University administrators play on our division. They've claimed that there is no coherent message from faculty or students about "AI". That refusal is fringe. That OpenAI contracts are ordinary procurements not subject to shared governance.

May the record show that faculty and students speak as one
🎉 CU Student government passed their resolution unanimously on first reading, as necessary to meet the chancellor's deadline.

I am so proud of their curiosity, purpose, commitment to shared governance, and parliamentary skills. ❤️

I’m NASA contractor looking for new engineering roles regarding projects, procurements, manufacturing, aerospace and nuclear. I have 8 years of engineering experience working on government contracts. Looking for remote roles but willing to consider hybrid / in-office around the DC/VA/MD areas.

There are indeed parallels.

But also with so many other IT/IP procurements where the supplier makes the purchaser dependent on proprietary systems.
February 22, 2026 at 8:31 AM
I’m not an IT expert but I do procurements well, and the confused looks I got when I asked Senior Directors at my job what processes they expected AI solutions to complete was telling

If you can’t even *describe* the current process that you want to automate, you are never going to get AI to do it
Most people’s work lives are not that structured. And almost no normal person’s personal life can be that structured. The “gee whiz” of it all cant manufacture the market it needs.
