I painted this Pterro-Sphinx from @forgeofice.bsky.social a while back but did some touch ups and added verdigris tonight. A brilliant piece of scenery, go order one from Alex (in the US) or @fenrisgames.com if you’re on the other side of the Atlantic.

Taking A Seam-Ripper to Conspiratorial Thinking

Metaphorical representation of a conflict in my near-finished novel, Forest in a Shadow Box. Machaon wants his mother back from her abrupt terror of the forest they live in.

New interactive globes on Pteros! Most of our pterosaur pages now show where each animal lived, on the Earth as it was then. Spin it, lay it flat, tap a fossil site. Pteranodon's fossil sites sit in the sea that once split North America in two. fossi.ls/pteros-maps

If you’re into #ornithology #paleoart or just birds and #dinosaurs in general take a listen to the latest #terriblelizards with katrina van grouw. @davehone.bsky.social gets very excited and we go on a long tangent about pterosaur vs frigate bird wings. www.patreon.com/terribleliza...

Please, Alderon, add an herbivore diet to Thalassodromeus so I can vicariously imagine playing as the Johnny Bravo/Chad meme crested pterosaur Tupandactylus.

Talking next week on Speculative Zoology and the legacy of Dougal Dixon's The New Dinosaurs, which I see as an emissary of the dinosaur renaissance and a subversive effort to bring avant garde dinosaurs and pterosaurs to the masses.

The models shown off in this thread are perfectly reflective of a very narrow window of time that is deeply nostalgic to me. Witton’s pterosaur busts and the Eotyrannus model especially. It’s hard to believe the late 2000s-early 2010s were so long ago.

I MUST make a pilgrimage here at some point.

This one perhaps deserves its own post:

The possbilities for what covered the crest of "striated-crested" pterosaurs like Dsungaripterus are many, without ONE TRUE model.
