But it's been over *30 years* (fuck, I'm old) since that era where PTown was a big, ol gay party town. Since then, I've watched PTown get more and more inclusive (good!), a lot less Portuguese (bad, but understandable - more in a comment), and WAY more expensive (just... bad).
