I got 221.6 yards of qiviut yarn out of the 1 ounce of fiber. This is my first laceweight project. I am ridiculously proud of this spin. I just couldn't go to bed without finding out the yardage. I got 221.6 yards out of the 1 ounce of qiviut. It is now in the bath to set the twist. I will be sure to share a photo tomorrow once it's dry. #fiberarts #spindlespinning #spinningwheel #qiviutyarn #handspunyarn

After 3 straight hours of work, the qiviut is plied. I'm really happy that I got the spin right and none of it separated while plying. I used my andean plying trick near the end to keep it a continuous yarn. Tomorrow I'll know my yardage. #spindlespinning #yarnspinner #qiviutyarn #highwhorlspindle

Looking down on a multi blue colored rope bowl from above. Inside the bowl is a brownish qiviut roving and 2 high whorl spindles lying on top of the fiber. One is made with a reddish wood and a light wood on the top. The one to the right of that is a light brown spindle made from a wooden toy wheel as the whorl. The reddish spindle has a cone shaped single yarn filling it. The other spindle also has a single of yarn wrapped in a cone shape but it has less yarn on it.
