OK, this must be quantum physics 😳👀

"Mr. President, please explain what quantum physics is."

My dad is 90 today. He’s holding the book he just wrote about quantum physics, which provides a common-sense solution to the measurement problem. It’s one of quantum physics’ greatest conundrums. (The solution involves understanding the nature of quantum entanglement.)

Does anyone actually understand quantum physics?

We asked six physicists why they’re still arguing after 100 years of quantum mechanics

we actually understand how quantum physics works pretty damn well.
What's something that experts/practitioners in your field universally agree upon, but that remains a "hot take" among the general public?

I'm not even joking. They're word-for-word.

I dare any reporter to ask Dunce Donald to explain what quantum physics, quantum computing, or fusion are. He couldn't even explain gravity.

If someone starts talking to me about quantum physics, I know with near certainty that they know less than nothing about actual quantum physics. If they're winding up about 'quantum states' or 'superpositions' I have about 8 seconds to evacuate before they bring up telepathy.

This works for classical and quantum physics. ⚛️ 🎢
Free, unsolicited advice for physics students: many things will go more smoothly for you if you can derive and explain the simple harmonic oscillator in your sleep

I only subscribe to the Journal of Quantum Physics for the particles.

oh. uh, i was on a call last week with a guy talking about quantum. and he just kept saying keep a lookout for quantum, we want quantum, when you hear quantum we want you to think of us. he never once said "quantum physics" or "quantum computing", just quantum. so i bet they also think it's quantum

I am definitely NOT a scientist of any sort. But isn't quantum physics different than quantum computing?
October 30, 2025 at 8:46 PM
Yes, and I have a "complicated relationship" with quantum physics. In the sense that, like Donald and the Bible, I've never studied it and have no understanding of it.

if Eliezer Yudkowsky was born into a somewhat poorer family and missed a couple lucky breaks, he’d have ended up as an archetypal specimen of your friend’s older cousin who keeps boa constrictors and makes you listen to him talk about quantum physics in his parent’s basement in exchange for weed
