I am new to this type of pitching. Did a quick one last week for the QueerPit.

I am going to share this in case anyone thinks what they have isn't enough:

"Anything worth doing, is worth half-assing."

It is better to do SOMETHING than nothing.

LOVE NOTES: Two women grow and heal together while navigating the trials of love, life and college marching band. 🎺🎵

84k new adult, sapphic sports romance

I can't believe I missed #queerpit! Shocked to discover my story is still very gay even outside of June and queer pit. 😘

Text that reads, "Ivy has her life under control (this is a lie)." The text is on top of four images with bright colors: hands holding a lesbian flag, a classroom of students, a trumpet player in a marching band and a crushed piggy bank. Text that reads, "Sloane doesn't need anyone (also a lie)." The text is on top of four images with dim, muted colors: two hands touching, a brick clock tower on a college campus, a trumpet player in a jazz band and a silhouette of female figure with her head in her hands. Text that reads, "Neither expected a marching band meet cute." The text is on top of four images: two women with their backs to the camera and rainbow flags in their back pockets, sheets of music, hands with painted nails holding a trumpet, and a top down view of a college library building.

Here's the sample card I just made for QueerPit with the first three paragraphs.

My goals were to communicate:
- CHARACTER!
- honest advertisement of style and content (a sensory jaunt to another place and time)
- narrator's personality
- THEMES. "This is what the book you're reading is about."
Detail of "View from the Mussel Pier in Amsterdam", painted by Ludolf Bakhuizen in 1673, showing a peaceful sky over a ship with two gulls. Text over it reads: Alexander stood at the edge of the deck, one hand clutching the railing, the other fastened tight on the brim of his hat as he leant out over the waves. He was not much afraid of falling in, though he had never swum anything choppier than a pond. Rather, he was afraid that his Acadian fur hat, the most expensive for sale in the shop on the Kalverstraat, might fly off his small crown and flap with its feathers all the way to the water—which, like the sky, could not quite decide between blue and grey. There was no one to see him aside from the sailors and now Klein, climbing up from below. Still, he had meticulously dressed that morning, down to every last ribbon. He’d had a very specific vision of himself when the suit was being ordered: the azure he’d picked was not just brighter than everything around him on the fluyt but even the true sky itself, and he sparkled with silver, when the wind tugged his doublet and loose breeches, and gold, when the meagre light managed to catch on his rapier’s small hilt. It was imperative, one must understand, that he look extremely stylish doing battle, should pirates suddenly appear to satisfy his fantasies. And indeed, at fifteen, he thought himself quite the dashing young man—not the boy he was.

Lillian all but shredded Carol's brassiere from her person, demanding immediate admission to her fleshy, springy knockers. Carol hyperventilated at Lillian's boldness. "This was the opposite of want. "Lillian needed Carol--as though she were oxygen itself. "Lillian's peppers lustered when she caught her first gander of Carol's ossifying titties. She did not tarry long before they slapdashed together in a cavernous, libidinous kiss. Mel Waverly - The First Lesbian Book Club, chapter 21

🙄 see her ex

Apparently saving the world is a group project, and Lyr is captain of this sinking ship.
