To me is seems an instance of an octopus enforcing 'rules'. Imagining the formalization and sophistication of this emergent role over time led to my conception of the Polypian Quidnunc as a political entity in (fictional) Octopolis. The inquisitive Quidnunc becomes the Inquisition!

The Quidnunc is my take on the Hierophant, traditionally represented by The Pope. Octopolis does not have a hierarchically organized church, so I wanted to distinguish this card in a way that viscerally emphasized the difference in the kind of power wielded by religious/cultural institutions.
