A slow-moving line of thunderstorms is bringing heavy rain to East Texas and northwest Louisiana this Election Day, with prolonged rainfall across many heavily Republican areas.
The polisci lit on this is a bit mixed but central tendency is roughly -1%pt of turnout per *inch* of rainfall so this is unlikely to be determinative of much.
Widespread precipitation is forecast for Election Day tomorrow, with rain expected across a broad swath of the country, including parts of Texas, Kansas, Iowa, Florida, Minnesota, and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

This system will bring only minimal rainfall north of Los Angeles. But looking ahead, there is strong multi-model ensemble agreement that a much more active Pacific storm track will develop by the second week in Nov, likely bringing heavier and more widespread NorCal rainfall.
